Clinton Township, Michigan

Brandon Joel Sluiter, fondly known by many as "B," passed away on July 14, 2026, in Clinton Township, Michigan, at the age of 56. Born on December 15, 1969, in Pontiac, Michigan, Brandon grew up in Waterford, Michigan, where he established deep roots and lifelong friendships.

A proud graduate of Waterford Mott High School, Brandon was known for his indomitable spirit and was a cherished member of the community. He dedicated 27 years of hard work and commitment to the Waterford Township Department of Public Works. Throughout his career, Brandon exemplified what it meant to serve with steadfastness and reliability, making a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the community he cared so much about.

Brandon’s personality was unforgettable. Possessed of a quick wit and a sharp sense of humor, he was known for his sarcasm, welcoming nature, and the great warmth of his heart. His generosity and fighting spirit were apparent to all who knew him. Brandon could talk to anyone, and his ability to forge connections meant that he never met a stranger—only friends he had not yet made.

He was a die-hard Detroit Lions fan, embracing the highs and lows that came with such loyal fandom. Sunday games were sacred, often filled with laughter, spirited commentary, and camaraderie.

Brandon’s memory will be carried on by his loving wife, Gigi Sluiter, and children: Jessica Sluiter (and her husband, Nathan Strause), Cody Sluiter, step-daughters Mia Oleson and Haley Woodland (and her husband, Blaine Woodland II), step-son Nicolas Oleson, and step-daughter Isabella Oleson. His beloved grandson, Blaine Woodland III, brought him much joy. Brandon is also survived by his mother, Carolyn Huntoon, brother Scott Sluiter, sister Heidi Sluiter-Fletcher, and nephews Charlie Fletcher and Maxx Fletcher.

He is preceded in death by his father, Roger Sluiter, and stepfather, William Huntoon, both of whom he held close in his heart.
