Carol Sue Helzer

Carol Sue Helzer passed away on June 7th, 2023, in Macomb, Michigan at the age of 80. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend that will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Born on December 5th, 1942 in Fort Gratiot, Michigan to Roy and Lois Bankson. Carol spent most of her life in the Michigan area where she went on to start a career as a Seamstress for Ford Motor Company. She was known for her incredible attention to detail and flawless workmanship.

Carol was passionate about fishing and camping with her husband Stanley Helzer as well as traveling around the country and visiting national parks. One of the highlights of her life was when she made this trip with Stanley to visit several national parks out West.

Carol always had an adventurous spirit and loved spending time outside surrounded by nature. Whether it was fishing on Lake St. Clair or simply taking a hike with friends and family, Carol believed that there was no better way to spend a day than enjoying the great outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her parents Roy and Lois Bankson as well as her sisters Kathy, Gayle and Jeanie. Carol is survived by her husband Stanley Helzer; sister JoAnn and brother Jim; children Bill, Tracy, James (grandson); along with many other family members and close friends.

A funeral service will be held at New Apostolic Church located at 37800 Utica Rd in Sterling Heights Michigan on June 24th, 2023. The visitation will begin at 11 AM. YouTube feed of the service can be found: https://www.nac-sterlingheights.org/

In memory of Carol’s love for fishing and being outside we ask that all donations go towards the National Park Foundation to keep these beautiful landscapes preserved for generations to come. Carol's absence will be deeply felt, but we take comfort in knowing that she lived her life fully and left behind memories that will always be cherished by those whose lives she touched.
