Carol Ann Toms, 79, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2026, surrounded by the family she cherished. Born in Detroit to James and Mildred Toms, Carol was a beloved daughter and one of eight siblings.
A woman of sharp mind and warm heart, Carol enjoyed a successful career in finance, choosing to retire at 53 to dedicate herself fully to the people and passions she loved especially traveling. She found her greatest happiness in life’s simple joys: reading, playing cards & games and gathering around the table or tv and watching sports with those she loved (especially cheering for her Detroit Lions). Above all, Carol’s greatest joy came from her family, and her radiant smile was a gift that brightened every room she entered.
As a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend; she leaves a legacy of love, warmth and generosity – always giving freely of her time, talents and treasures. Her home was a place of hospitality, renowned for large gatherings where all were welcomed. Even as her health was challenged in later years, she remained strong in her faith, rarely complained, never gave up and continued to offer her warm smile; ever encouraging her family to stay united and love one another.
She is predeceased by siblings: Zimya, Sidney (Barbara), Michael, and William Toms. Her memory will be carried forward by her siblings Daniel, Timothy (Linda) and Spring (Richard) Toms; her daughters, Rebecca Dise and Vicki Hill (Scott) and her cherished grandchildren, Sydney and Christian Hill. She also leaves behind many dear nieces, nephews, and friends including her beloved nieces Christine and Hermelinda, whose unwavering presence by her side until the end was a gift for which Carol was profoundly thankful.
A memorial service will be held on March 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 21201 E. 13 Mile Rd, Saint Clair Shores 48082 with a luncheon at the church to follow. Internment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery to be determined at a future date. Carol's radiant spirit and gentle love will be deeply missed, but her legacy of faith, forgiveness, kindness, and family will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
