Christine Marie Whelan

Christine (Tina) Marie Whelan, nee Tierney, age 80, was called home to be with the Lord on January 9, 2023, in Clinton Township, Michigan.

Christine "Tina" was born in Syracuse, NY on October 19, 1942, to the late Irving Edward Tierney and Ellen June Dwyer. She grew up in Southern California where she met and married her ex-husband, Michael James Whelan, who passed away in May 2022. Tina was a devoted wife and mother, who doted on her children and was extremely involved in their school, sports, and lives.

Tina is survived by her children, Michael (Cherish) Whelan Jr., Sheila (Douglas) Priemer, and Brian (Terri) Clune; her sister, Anne Nickel, and brother, Patrick Tierney. She was the best and most involved grandmother to her grandchildren, Courtney (Greg) Behm, Jacob Priemer, Michaela Priemer, Grayson Priemer, Carmel, Josh, and Amberly Clune. She also had one great-granddaughter, Thalia Behm. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Michael, John, Robert, and Timothy Tierney.

Tina was a devoted Catholic who volunteered in her church and senior homes until she was no longer able. She was an incredible seamstress, baker, gardener, and homemaker. She was a devoted friend and caretaker. She will truly be missed by all.

Tina will be cremated and a Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mt. Clemens, MI. There will be an In-State at 9 a.m. on January 20, 2023, with a funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Peter Catholic Cemetery for the interment. A luncheon will follow.
