Daniel James Shepard

Daniel James "Danny" Shepard, 29, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on July 26, 2026. Born on July 28, 1996, in Detroit, Daniel spent his life deeply rooted in the city he called home.

Daniel attended Warren Woods Tower High School and went on to build a career as a restoration technician. Through hard work and dedication, he rose to the position of lead technician in his field. His commitment to his craft was evident to all who worked alongside him.

A man with a passion for cars, Daniel grew up in a family that shared his love for automobiles. He proudly owned an El Camino and dreamed of restoring it one day. His enthusiasm for vehicles extended beyond cars; he also enjoyed riding motorcycles, a pastime he shared with his father and sister. Beyond his mechanical interests, Daniel cherished time spent with his children and family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.

Daniel is survived by his loving parents, Dawn and Dale Shepard; his beloved children, Jaycie and Jameson Shepard; and his sisters: Sara Lloyd (Joshua), Samantha Shepard (Samuel Schutter), and Stephanie Shepard (Jonny Vega). He also leaves behind numerous nieces and one nephew who adored him. Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Linda Helen and James Dwight Wilhite as well as Yvonne Christine and Dale C. Shepard. Also, his best friend Luke Gray.

Known for always being there when someone needed help, Daniel had a generous spirit that touched many lives. His unique personality—what he fondly referred to as the "Shepard man attitude"—was an integral part of who he was and will be remembered by all who knew him.

As we reflect on Daniel’s life, we are reminded of the words of Matt Haig: “People you love never die… Not completely. They live in your mind, the way they always lived inside you. You keep their light alive.”
