Dominic Badalamenti, aged 72 of Clinton Township, died Thursday April 17th after a short battle with cancer. Dominic died comfortably in his daughter’s home enveloped in his family’s love. He was born on May 23rd, 1952 in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Giuseppe and the late Rose Badalamenti.
Dominic was a valued employee, retiring from Chrysler after 22 years. Dominic loved music and playing the guitar. A guest in his home could expect to walk into the music blasting or the guitar wailing. He was a collector of watches, guitars and pocket knives. Some might say Dominic was a minimalist and lived his life with frugality, as he was quick to pull out the duct tape, Velcro or a C-clamp to keep his possessions working for as long as possible. Those same people will also tell you Dominic was one of the most kind, caring and helpful men walking the Earth. Dominic would give you the shirt off his back and the last dollar in his pocket if he felt you were in need. Dominic loved pranking his daughter Gina, tying her shoes together, scaring her with spiders, starting water fights and tomato wars. He would frequently state he was proud to be Gina’s dad and loved her immensely. He loved to visit the mall and spend hours there talking with his friends. The thing that Dominic loved most in the world was spending every Saturday with his best friend and grandson Angelo. Dominic and Angelo had a special bond and love for each other like no other. Dominic loved his sweets, especially baked goods, and put a little sugar on everything. Pizza-sugar, pot pie-sugar, Salisbury steak-sugar. He was a connoisseur in all things sweet. It is evident that Dominic touched the hearts and lives of many people during his 72 years.
Dominic was a dad, a Papa, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend and he will be loved eternally and missed immensely. He was the dear father of Gina (James) Harder. Loving grandfather and Papa to Angelo and Gillian.
