Donald Julian Bernard, known affectionately as Don, passed away on February 28, 2024, in Chesterfield, Michigan. He was born on September 25, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan.
In 1974, Don graduated from Finney High School with a thirst for knowledge that would accompany him throughout his life. He approached every endeavor with a sense of determination and passion.
Don dedicated 31 years of his life to the Automotive Industry, serving faithfully at General Motors. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on all those he worked with.
Beyond his professional career, Don found joy in various hobbies and interests. He cherished moments spent swimming, boating, fishing, and watching sports. These activities brought him immense happiness and helped shape his well-rounded personality.
Among his proudest accomplishments were witnessing his son excel in boat racing and supporting his grandsons in their sporting events. Don's unwavering support and love for his family shone brightly through these moments of celebration.
Don will be dearly missed by his surviving family and friends; his wife of 23 years Pamela Bernard and his children Jennifer (Brandon), Chrissy (Bill), Jeff (Christabelle), and Jayme. He is also survived by his sister Pat Stansberry, Sister-in-law, Judy Bernard and Sister-in-law, Carolyn Cleland. Further survivors include his grandchildren, Haley, Collin, Liam, Blakely, and Riylnn.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Dolores Bernard, and his siblings Sue Klie (Sister), Bob (Brother), Raymond (Brother). Other family members Don was predeceased by are; Jim Stansberry (Brother-in-law), and Bill Klie (Brother-in-law).
A Celebration of Life service will be held on March 30, 2024, at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Macomb, Michigan. The event will honor the life of Don Bernard starting at 1:00 PM.
Don's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace knowing he touched the lives of many with his kindness and love.
