Dorothy Jean Cole

June 7, 1937 — April 19, 2025

Mount Clemens, Michigan

Dorothy Jean Cole, known affectionately as "Sam" to her friends and "Bird" to her close family, was born on June 7, 1937, in Romeo, Michigan to Harold and Clara Suer. She passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, after a courageous and valiant battle with cancer.

Dorothy was a woman of remarkable spirit and character. She was kind, protective, and fierce, qualities that endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Dorothy embraced life with an enthusiasm infectious to those around her, and her absence will be profoundly felt by family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her years.

In her younger days, Dorothy found joy in camping and dancing, pursuits that brought happiness and laughter to her life. She had a deep affection for flowers, especially her beloved roses, and an appreciation for country music and a good beer, all of which contributed to the vibrant tapestry of her personality.

Dorothy is survived by her devoted children, Glenn (Nikki) Collins, Ken (Sherry) Collins, Karen (Don) Ciani, and Barbara (Henry) Morelli. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Sandra (William) Huston, and brother, Dave (Linda) Suer, as well as her cherished brother, Butch (Sandy) Suer. The legacy of her love will continue through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who carry forward the values she instilled in them.

Dorothy joins in eternal rest her husband, Jerry Cole, along with her sons Richard Bonin and  Robert "Peewee" Collins. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret (Arthur) Meddaugh, Carolyn (Neil) Charneneau, and Barbara Reeder.

As we remember Dorothy Jean Cole, let us celebrate a life well-lived, filled with love, kindness, and fierce devotion to her family and friends. She will be remembered not only for the memories she leaves behind but also for the warmth she brought into the world. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her.

A Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
