Francis Vincent Stanco, Jr., age 76, passed away on July 6, 2026.
Born on February 19, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, Francis was proud of his Detroit roots and spent his life in the communities that shaped him. He was baptized at St. Jude Catholic Church in Detroit. In later years, he made his home in Eastpointe, Michigan.
Francis built a career in auto body repairs and motorcycle mechanics. He had a passion as a custom painter where he frequently showed his skills at the Detroit Auto Show. He had a lifelong passion for motorcycles and automobiles.
He is survived by his children, Francis Vincent Stanco, III (wife, Darcy Stanco); Deborah Nicke; and Jason Stanco; his siblings, Jacqueline Spychal, Diane Berdych, and Jeff Stanco. He was a proud grandfather to Kelsey, Kyle, Marie, Judy, and Douglas Stanco, as well as Emily and Violet, and four great-grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Vincent Stanco, Sr. and Cleo "Patt" Stanco, his sisters Deborah Stanco and Merri Stanco, his brother David Stanco, along with other beloved family members who welcomed him home.
Francis will be remembered for his strength, his work ethic, his love of cars and motorcycles, and the many stories and memories he shared with family and friends over the years. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and in the family he loved.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Francis's life at a Celebration of Life gathering in Detroit at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Waldenburg Park.
A Funeral Mass and interment will take place on July 30, 2026, at Sacred Heart Church in Fruita, Colorado. A rosary will be prayed at 5:00 pm and the Mass will follow at 6:00 pm.
Though he will be deeply missed, Francis's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Francis's memory spend time with their loved ones and cherish the moments they share together.
