Gail Margaret Schulte

December 7, 1946 — April 17, 2026

Clinton Township, Michigan

Gail Margaret Schulte of Clinton Township died peacefully on April 17, 2026 of dementia-related causes. She was born December 7, 1946 in Detroit and grew up in Royal Oak before moving to Sterling Heights and then Clinton Township. She is survived by her beloved daughter and favorite son-in-law, Marianne and Tedd Craven, and her treasured grandson Brendan Craven, all of Clinton Township. She is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Bator, the love of her life, with whom she shared many adventures; and her parents, Kenneth and Margaret (Dalrymple) Campbell, and her brother, Joel Campbell.

Gail was a Polio Pioneer as a child and a staunch advocate for vaccines as an adult due to that experience. She was a proud graduate of Royal Oak Kimball High School, and she retired from Utica Community Schools after 32 years, working as a Special Education Aide and later as an Administrative Assistant in the maintenance department and at the Board Office.

Gail was also a genealogist, first researching her own family, then her son-in-law’s family, before becoming a volunteer in the Genealogy Room at the Mt. Clemens Public Library and a Board Member of the Macomb County Genealogy Group. She also photographed and indexed every grave at Clinton Grove Cemetery for Find-A-Grave. In her free time, Gail enjoyed reading and watching British television, as well as a wide variety of movies. She was a prolific knitter, donating hundreds of blankets, lap robes, hats, and scarves to various charities, and giving friends and family the best potholders and dishcloths. She also enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking.

More than anything else, Gail loved her family. She was always ready to help with anything they needed and to celebrate their accomplishments. She was a fixture at her grandson’s baseball games from Little League through high school, and she was bursting with pride when he became an occupational therapist.

Gail will be remembered for her kindness and patience, her sense of humor, and her generosity in helping others.

Gail’s family would like to thank the caregivers from StoryPoint Senior Living and CorsoCare, as well as the CorsoCare Hospice team for the loving care they provided in her final months.

To honor Gail, her family is requesting donations to Turning Point Macomb in Mt. Clemens. They are also requesting that those who loved her do a good deed in her memory.
