It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary Lee Koprin, who departed life peacefully on March 8, 2026, at the age of 73.
Gary was born on September 18, 1952 in Hazel Park, MI to Louis and Constance Koprin. He proudly served his country for 4 years during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the United States Army in 1972.
Following his military service, Gary worked hard to earn his journeyman’s license, becoming a master plumber and owning his own plumbing business. In 1996, he began his career as a pipefitter at Fiat Chrysler, where he was a proud union member and worked diligently for 26 years before retiring in 2022.
Gary was a hard working man, a loyal friend, a caring father, and a loving papa. He had a deep passion for animals, nature, gardening, and birds. He also enjoyed fast cars, fishing, puzzles, and reading. Gary loved to travel and cherished family vacations. He loved to BBQ, make zucchini bread, and he threw the best pool parties.
He is survived by his sister, Gloria (Larry) Kmiec; his brother, Marlin Koprin; his 5 children, Ben, Jenny (Ryan), Josie (Brandon), John (Anahita), and Jessie (Frank); and his 13 grandchildren, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Gary is now reunited in heaven with his first wife, Kathleen, mother to his first son, Ben.
As he was a character in life, this shall end with his business motto: “Remember, keep on smiling.”
