Harold Lee Wooten, a sweet southern gentleman known for his love of family, faith, and community, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, at the age of 97. Harold was born on January 31, 1926, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky to loving parents. He grew up in a close-knit community and developed a strong sense of values that would guide him throughout his life.
During World War II, Harold proudly served his country in the United States Navy. His time in the military instilled in him a deep sense of patriotism and a commitment to serving others. After the war, he settled down in Michigan and embarked on a career in the auto industry as a talented tool and die maker.
Harold's life changed when he met the love of his life, Emma. They built a beautiful life together in St. Clair Shores and were blessed with four children: Sherry Brown, Carolyn (David) Wood, Jeffrey (Colleen) Wooten, and Susan (Scott) Ide. In addition to his love for the outdoors, Harold and Emma enjoyed bowling together and spending time with friends, neighbors, and their beloved pinochle club. They shared many laughs and created treasured memories during their bowling nights and social gatherings.
Tragedy struck when Emma passed away, leaving Harold devastated. However, several years later, fate would bring a new love into his life when he met Joyce at church. They found companionship in each other's company and were married in 1996. Their union was deeply rooted in faith as they served together at their church for many years. Their shared commitment to gardening in the courtyard and lending a helping hand in the kitchen strengthened their bond.
Retirement brought forth a new chapter of adventure for Harold and Joyce. They embraced life to the fullest by embarking on exciting travels, enjoying rounds of golf, and enthusiastically cheering on their grandchildren at various activities. Family birthday celebrations and holiday gatherings were always a highlight as Harold adored being surrounded by loved ones.
Music was another passion that brought immense joy to Harold's life. Whether it was listening to his favorite tunes or tending to his bountiful vegetable garden, he found solace in simple pleasures.
