James William Hurley

The family of James William Hurley of Warren, MI is saddened to announce his passing on Sunday, December 15 at the age of 85 years.

Born September 30, 1939, to Gerald and Dorothy (Hould) Hurley. He was the eldest of three children.

James is survived by his daughters Colleen (Josh) Penny and Lynn (T.J.) Umina; nephew DJ (Claire) Jablonski; sister Marilyn (Donald) May; grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael, and wife Beverly (O’Shea).

James will be remembered for his sense of humor, willingness to help and positive outlook. Spending time with friends and family was his biggest pleasure and our greatest gift. He always had a story to tell and a laugh to share. Affectionately known as Jim, Jimmy, Uncle Jim, Papa, Grandpa and Dad. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp, James served honorably from 1959 to 1963.

A private ceremony will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI.
A Celebration of Life will take place at The Gazebo in Warren, MI on January 4, 2025, from 12:00-3:00.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local Veterans’ organization.
