Janet Rotko

June 30, 1959 — July 17, 2021

Janet Rotko, daughter of Mary & Iwan (Tat) Rotko, passed away suddenly on July 17, 2021. She will be missed greatly by her surviving family members: John (Tina) Rotko, Steve Rotko, Joseph Rotko, Diane (Kenny) Kotowski, and her favorite niece and nephew, Jamie (Drew) Beaudry and A.J. (Chrissie) Rotko.

Janet will be best remembered for her fabulous culinary talents, love for great music, kind and giving heart, smiling personality, and love for birding and the U.P. wilderness. She was so grateful to be born and to live during the best of times: for music, styles, and quality standards, and constantly reminded us how lucky we are for that. We're all too familiar with her great love of music, from the Beatles to Queen to John Denver! She enjoyed daily, and especially admired Ian Hunter's many words of wisdom. A few days ago, she mentioned please listen to Ian's song "Michael Picasso" he wrote when his buddy Mick Ronson passed away. A few of her favorite quotes include Def Leppard "it's better to burn out, than fade away" & the Beatles "and in the end……the love you take, is equal to the love you make".

Janet reminded us not to take time for granted, and most recently, to not fear anything, and to never let fear stand in our way. Her biggest desire is for us to be happy and always stand up for what is right, and always be thankful to God for his love and the great blessings we've been given.

Memorial services to be held later in the year.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond's glint of snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the autumn's gentle rain.
When you awaken in the
morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there,
I did not die.
