Janice Ida Lang

December 13, 1930 — January 12, 2026

Clinton Twp, Michigan

Janice Ida Lang, age 95, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. Born on December 13, 1930, in Detroit, she was the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Irene (nee: Duebal) Munzel. Janice spent her formative years growing up in East Detroit, where she formed treasured memories that would stay with her throughout her life.

After meeting her husband, Robert Lang, they ventured together to Washington, D.C., for a few years. Eventually, they returned to Michigan, where they settled in Roseville. It was in this nurturing environment that Janice and Robert raised their three sons. Their bond was a testament to enduring love, leading to a marriage that lasted 61 years until Robert’s passing in 2012.

Janice dedicated a significant part of her life to her career as a bank teller at Comerica Bank, showing a remarkable work ethic until her retirement. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and infectious smile, which brightened the lives of those around her. Beyond her professional life, Janice embraced a multitude of interests. Her passions included square dancing, camping, and playing cards and games. She thrived on adventures with her square dancing club, often being the last to sleep and the first to rise during their camping trips. Janice and Robert also cherished their winters in Florida and enjoyed memorable cruise adventures with friends.

However, it was her family that brought her the greatest joy. She was a devoted mom, grandma, and great-grandmother, radiating love and compassion. Janice was remarkable for her gentle spirit and her ability to see the good in everyone, impacting the lives of those who knew her in profound ways. Her innate kindness and sweet disposition remained evident even after Robert's passing when she faced the challenges of dementia. Despite her diagnosis, Janice maintained a joyful outlook on life, living with her sons, Kurt Lang and David Lang alongside their wives, Barb and Robin. She alternated her time between Michigan and Colorado, showing an unwavering spirit for adventure, taking trips to Wyoming, camping in Canyonlands, exploring Arches National Park, going up north Michigan and local apple orchards, but most importantly being there for every event her grandchildren had, where she was always eager to be apart of.

Janice wholeheartedly embraced life, often reminding her family, “Do as much as you can, while you still can.” She approached each day with humor and grace, exhibiting strength through adversity. Her gentle smile and playful wit remained intact, even when faced with forgetfulness, as she would humorously respond, “Ask me no questions and I tell you no lies.”

Janice Ida Lang will be remembered lovingly by her surviving children, Kurt (Barb) Lang and David (Robin) Lang. Her legacy will also live on through her grandchildren, Lisa (Amir) Chaaban, Ryan (Gina) Lang, Matthew (Krista) Lang, Amy (Charles) Barnes, April Lang Holliday, and Chris (Mandie) Eldridge, as well as her twelve cherished great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert and her son Craig Michael Lang.

A memorial service will be held on March 4, 2026, at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan, beginning at 11:00 a.m., allowing family and friends to gather in remembrance and celebration of Janice’s extraordinary life, a luncheon will follow.
