Judith Kay Zimmerman, affectionately known as Judy, passed away on October 28, 2026, at the age of 84. Born in Detroit, Michigan, on January 2, 1942, Judy lived a life filled with kindness, grace, laughter, friendship, and love for her family.

Judy was the daughter of Hazen and Lucille Zimmerman. She was a devoted mother to Donald Barnes (Shannon Barnes) and Lorri Ann Barnes (Michael Williams), and is survived by her former husband, Pat Barnes and preceded in death by her second husband Dennis Ciccarelli.

Judy dedicated 45 years of her life to nursing, graduating from the Evangelical Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing. Throughout her career, she served in many capacities at Deaconess Hospital in Detroit and Bi-County Hospital in Warren. Her dedication to caring for others was a reflection of the compassion and kindness she carried throughout her life. After 45 years of service, she retired, leaving behind a lasting impact on the patients, colleagues, and friends she encountered along the way.

Outside of nursing, Judy had a wonderful talent for sewing and creating beautiful things. She especially enjoyed making baby clothes, crocheting, and creating beautiful needlepoint pieces. She also loved framing and matting artwork, adult coloring books, puzzles, and reading. Her creativity and patience were evident in everything she made, and she found joy in sharing her talents with others.

Judy was known for being kind, gracious, incredibly intelligent, and possessing a wicked sense of humor. She was someone who could make people laugh and feel comfortable, and she always looked forward to spending time with the people she loved. She cherished getting together with her fellow nursing friends, enjoying meals at good restaurants, and making memories with her family and friends.

Some of Judy's favorite moments were the simple pleasures in life. She loved looking at Christmas light displays, enjoying a delicious Tim Hortons cappuccino, having an ice-cold mug of beer, and attending a Detroit Tigers game. She especially enjoyed driving adventures with Shannon and looking forward to seeing her grand-doggies.

Above all, Judy was a loving mother and a cherished friend. She was Lorri's best friend and confidant, someone who could always be counted on for advice, laughter, and support. Her love for her family and friends was unwavering, and the memories she created with them will be treasured forever.

Judy will be remembered for her compassionate heart, her intelligence, her humor, her creativity, and the genuine love she shared with everyone around her. Her presence brought warmth and happiness to those fortunate enough to know her, and she will be deeply missed.

She will forever be loved, remembered, and missed.
