Karen Lee Wood passed peacefully on May 31, 2024 at the age of 80 in her Clinton Township home where she lived for 45 years.
Karen was born on March 16, 1944 to Walter and Grace Nemitz. She graduated from Dominican High School in 1962.
A female trailblazer in many industries, she was proud of the work she did. She started out in food and hospitality, working for local restaurants where her networking skills led her to the insurance industry. Through her talents and tenacious personality, she quickly made a name for herself in a male dominated field, and became the first female President of the Anchor Bay Chamber of Commerce. Her adventurous spirit led her to become a restauranteur, work in Real Estate sales, and ultimately taking a position for the next 15 years as a dedicated unit secretary at St Joseph’s, now Henry Ford Hospital, where she eventually retired in 2018.
Throughout her life she enjoyed traveling to places like Boston, Florida, South Padre Island, Riviera Maya, and her well earned trip to Europe where she visited London and Paris.
She was a devoted grandmother to Madison, Caiden and Callahan. Her life was rich with many family members along with lifelong and recent, treasured friendships.
She is survived by her two children: Dawn (Ryan) Vezzetti and Erik (Ricki) Wood; brothers, Charlie (Cindy) Nemitz and Mark (Michelle) Nemitz.
She’ll be missed tremendously, but will be cherished and honored in our hearts always.
Per Karen's wishes, no funeral service will be held.Visits: 24
