Lawrence Alton Dostilio

March 25, 1932 — April 10, 2020

Lawrence A. Dostilio, Sr. (aka Butsy), age 88, passed peacefully in his sleep on Friday, April 10, 2020, at his home in Sterling Heights, MI. Larry was cared for and comforted by his family.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Emma of 64 years, his two sons, Lawrence, Jr. (Mary) Dostilio, Jeffrey Dostilio, and daughter Cynthia (Darwin) Moore. Further survivors include his brother, Dominic (Betty, deceased) Dostilio, his six granddaughters: Dominique and Lauryn Dostilio; Sabrina (Max) Hefty; Miranda, Jessica, and Georgia Moore, along with his three great grandchildren; Stella, Genevieve, Remington and many loving family members that will always remember him as "Uncle Butsy". Larry was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Bonedith Dostilio; brother Patrick (Donna) Dostilio; son Mark Dostilio.

Born March 25th, 1932, in Pennsylvania, Larry's father moved his family to Detroit, MI, in 1942. After high school, Larry joined the Army and served during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and was based in Germany. Larry was trained as an Engineer Equipment Mechanic.

When Larry returned from the Army, he entered the Sheet Metal Workers apprenticeship program, where he earned his journeyman card. Larry worked for Ventcon, Inc. the majority of his time in the sheet metal trade; he retired in 1994.

After retirement, Larry and his wife enjoyed their vacation home in Naples, FL, for many winters, entertaining friends and family at every chance. Larry enjoyed all sports, playing baseball and softball well into adulthood; turning to tennis and golf in his later years. His passion for sports (along with his wife) had him attending many of his grandchildren's games and events. Larry dearly enjoyed his family and friends and the time he got to spend with them.

No matter what the name; Larry, Butsy, Uncle Butsy, Dad, Papa, Grandpa, etc., he will be fondly remembered by family and friends, and greatly missed by all. May he Rest in Peace.
