Lester Lee Stanley

Les Stanley was known for many things, but what he was most proud of was being Joyce Stanley’s husband. He was a friend to all, the man with a plan, and our families Superman.

Les began his life in Mercer, Missouri and as a teenager migrated to Pontiac, Michigan where he met the love of his life Joyce Stanley. They built a beautiful life together. Les had many careers he was proud of, he was a butcher for many A&P stores, owned his own hardware store, supervisor of maintenance and grounds at Waterford School District. When he retired from Waterford School District he farmed hay at the homestead Hickory Lane Farms. Where his children and grandchildren helped and learned what hard work and family was all about.

Time spent in the barn was always well spent. He could fix cars, find you the part you needed for anything, and make what seemed impossible possible. Everyone was always inspired by his ingenuity.

From being there when you needed a helping hand near or far, to taking a ride outback, to the come go with me, a short detour visit and all that’s in between. He loved taking the time to show you what was and to share his life lessons with all who loved and cared for him.

In recent years Les enjoyed planting a huge garden at the homestead, spending time with family, completing projects in the barn, looking for his next car or tractor from an auction or market place, taking golf cart rides with his dog Taz and being an active community member at the Fostoria Methodist Church.

Joyce left Les in 2021. It is with sadness that we pray they are reunited and at peace. He is survived by his children Les Stanley, Bill Stanley, Sue Eager, and reunited with Lorrie Clancy. Other survivors include, Daughter-in-laws Angie Stanley and Denise Stanley and Son-In-laws Gary Eager and Jeff Clancy . His grand children, Ross Mead, Jennifer Maul, Ryan Mead, Robert Stanley, Nick Stanley, Emmalee Miller, Elizabeth Mead-Archie, Amanda Herbert, Lindsey Brandt, Samantha Stanley-Broughman, William Bessey, Morgan Gennarelli, Jason Stanley, and Jade Eager, and Spouses of the grandchildren; with 33 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Ed Stanley (Wanda Stanley) and Carolyn Healy. Proceeded in death was brother Ron Stanley.

A memorial is being planned for a later date.
