Louise Ann Kolakowski, née Dzielski, passed away on May 4, 2026, in Shelby Township, Michigan. Born on January 13, 1941, in Masontown, Pennsylvania, Louise’s journey took her from her birthplace to Hamtramck at the age of 11, where she would grow into the beloved woman remembered by many today.
Louise was dearly loved by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, known for loving beyond measure. Her ready smile and infectious laugh left lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Those qualities, coupled with her warm presence, made her a cherished member of her family and community.
Louise’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her children: John Kolakowski, David Kolakowski and his wife Julie, Laura Leslie and her husband Tim, Diane Lane and her husband Matt, and Paul Kolakowski. Her legacy extends through her grandchildren Alyssa Williams, Jennifer Roman, Jonathan Leslie, Scott Leslie, Shealyn Kolakowski, Jenna Kolakowski, Robert Kolakowski, and Raymond Kolakowski. She also takes pride in being a great-grandmother to Julianna, Logan, Myles, and Dezmond. Louise is further survived by her sister Angeline Krajewski; brother Joseph Dzielski along with his wife Deborah; and sister in law, Debra Dzielski.
Louise was predeceased by her cherished parents, John and Helen (Mastowski) Dzielski, as well as her brother Stanley Dzielski.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Barbara Los for her loving care, as well as the dedicated caregivers at Shelby Comfort Care and AccentCare Hospice, whose kindness and support provided comfort in Louise’s final days.
To celebrate a life so rich and meaningful, a Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Italian American Cultural Society and Banquet Center, located at 43843 Romeo Plank Rd., Clinton Township, MI 48038. This gathering provides an opportunity for family, friends, and community members to honor Louise’s memory and the indelible mark she left on their lives.
Louise Ann Kolakowski’s life was one of love, laughter, and devotion. Her memory will be treasured by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who carry her legacy forward.
