Martha Gruetz, age 86 went home to be with the Lord, on February 24, 2015. "Omi", as she was affectionately called by her family, was a loving, giving mother and grandmother and an avid lifelong gardener. She spent her quiet time sewing and knitting, but always found energy to play with her grandsons and help others. She found friendship and spiritual fulfillment through her church, and always let The Lord be her guide.
Martha was born in Germany and later immigrated to America after World War II as a young woman to start a new life. One of her proudest days was becoming an American Citizen and she was proud to call Ohio her home and raise her family there. But, she never forgot her German roots, and treasured the many visits throughout the years by her overseas family.
Martha will reunite in heaven with her parents, brothers Christian and Wilhelm, and sister Elisabeth. Left behind to cherish her memory are her son Eric (Debbie) and daughter Heidi (Phil), along with her four grandsons, Philip, Alexander, Jeremy, and Nicholas.
Loving family members in Germany include her brother, Heinrich, nieces and nephews, Marion, Dorothea, Hartmut, Friederike, Johannes, Albrecht, and Friedhelm.
A celebration of Martha's life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church at a date to be determined. Please share memories of Martha at her memory book above.
