Milford C. Messer

Milford C. Messer, affectionately known as "Mel," passed away on May 4, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on March 4, 1935, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was the beloved son of Jesse Messer and Rebecca Young. He was preceded in death by his brother Vern and sister Della.

Mel was a devoted father and grandfather who served honorably in the United States Army. For over 60 years, he owned and operated Tru-Thread Co., demonstrating an unmatched work ethic and a generous spirit always willing to lend a hand to others. Beyond his professional life, Mel had a passion for flying and could often be found at his hangar, enjoying the skies and the company of good friends.

He is lovingly survived by his son, Tom Messer, and his long-time partner, Lynn; his two grandchildren, Sierra and Kylie; and many dear friends. Mel’s warmth, dedication, and passion touched all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
