Paul Charles Davey Jr. was delivered unto rest on May 23, 2026. “Paulie” was born on September 17, 1967, in Detroit, Michigan, to Paul Sr. and Ann Davey. Later, he became big brother to Steven.
Paul kept busy during his 58 years. A wartime Veteran, Paul proudly served in the United States Armed Forces during the Gulf War. His deployment to Fort Bliss Army Base in El Paso, Texas, would lead him to his destiny—his soulmate, wife, and best friend, Erika (Whitt). Paul used his dance moves featured on The Scene to fi rst grab Erika’s attention, but what won her over was his heart. Against all odds, the two remained married for 37 years.
Together, Paul and Erika gave life to three children: Sean Michael Davey, Brandon Edward Davey, and Hailey Carmella Petty (Sheldon). He discovered new happiness when he became “Gampa” to his grandchildren, Bentley Myles and Genavieve Aurora Petty. Although he was gone in an instant, Paul set his family up to be strong and left behind a legacy of unconditional love for his kids and grandkids.
Paul demonstrated a forgotten work ethic. He wrapped up a 30+ year career with Chrysler (Stellantis) as a UAW Brother in the Skilled Trades as a Tool and Die Maker. Somehow, between being a family man and a trusted professional, he also mastered the art of Kung Fu, a discipline that inspired the latter years of his life.
Paul also loved his beagles. Jack and Bandit are already by his side exploring the universe, leaving sweet old Lily behind to hold down the fort.
To honor his memory with dignity, family and friends are invited to gather for a Memorial Mass:
Saturday, June 13, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, located at 40501 Hayes Rd, Sterling Heights, MI 48313.
Doors will open at 9:00 AM, with the mass beginning at 9:30 AM.
A fitting tribute to Paul's life is being planned for a later date. In lieu of fl owers, the family asks that you enjoy an ice cold Pepsi on his behalf.
