Ralph Norman Lundstedt, Jr., age 74, of Michigan, passed away on March 14, 2026, at Henry Ford Hospital after a brief and sudden illness.
Born on May 12, 1951, in Detroit, Michigan, Ralph was the son of the late Ralph and Laura Mae Lundstedt. He graduated from Osborn High School in 1970 and went on to study mechanics at Ferris State University, where he made lasting memories with his Phi Kappa Theta fraternity brothers.
Throughout his career, Ralph worked as a heavy duty truck mechanic for the City of Detroit, retiring in 2001. Even in retirement, his strong work ethic and easygoing nature made him a favorite colleague wherever he lent a hand. At home, Ralph could often be found tinkering in the garage on his classic Corvette or creating beautiful stained-glass pieces—hobbies that reflected both his precision and his creativity.
After a massive stroke in 2007, Ralph continued to show an unwavering zest for life. His love for all Detroit sports never faded, and his resilience became one of his defining qualities.
Ralph was a genuinely kind human being, known for his willingness to help a friend, his positive nature, gentle spirit, and his immense love for Susie, his “honey” and beloved wife of 26 years. Together, they enjoyed adventures of traveling across the United States while appreciating a quiet life at home.
He will be remembered for his generosity, steady optimism, and the warmth he brought to everyone around him—qualities that remained constant despite the disabilities he faced after his stroke.
He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Susie; his brother, Paul Lundstedt (Julie); his sister, Gail Rivard; sons Ralph (Amanda) and Joseph; daughters Kelly (Moussa) Baydoun and Jennifer (Bill) Hornok-Konkel and grandchildren Kelly, Caine, Aidan, and Eleanor.
Ralph’s cremation is being handled by Cremation Source. To honor Ralph, the family encourages you to enjoy a coney dog and attend a live sporting event in Detroit (Tigers or Red Wings) sometime in the next year—two things that brought him joy. Memorial contributions may be made to Motor City Mitten Mission in St. Clair Shores.
