Raymond Lewis Campbell, a beloved father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on March 9, 1932, in Ferndale, MI, Ray's life was a tapestry woven with rich experiences, love, and an unwavering sense of service.
A resident of Clinton Township, Michigan, at the time of his passing, Ray was known for his free spirit and warm heart. He found strength and guidance in his Christian faith. Ray was a proud veteran, having served his country with honor during the Korean War. This chapter of his life instilled in him a deep sense of duty and patriotism that he cherished dearly. He spent his free time cheering on the Detroit Tigers and Lions, watching musicals, and listening to music. He also loved to bowl, bet on horse racing and shoot craps.
Ray was a man of generosity and kindness, always willing to contribute to a worthy cause. His charitable nature led him to support numerous charities, leaving a legacy of compassion and goodwill. Above all, Ray cherished his family. He was a devoted father to his daughters, Sandra Campbell, Karyn Watson, and Michele Bozzer (granddaughter - Carley), taking immense pride in all his children's achievements. His granddaughter, Natalie Watson, held a special place in his heart, and their time together was filled with joy and laughter.
Though predeceased by his beloved wife, Diane Campbell, Ray's love for her never wavered, and he often spoke of the beautiful memories they shared. As we remember Ray, we find comfort in his favorite words: "I've lived a life that's full. I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way."
A service to honor and celebrate Ray's life will be held at a later date, allowing family and friends to gather, reminisce, and pay tribute to a man who touched so many lives. As we say our goodbyes, we carry with us the indelible mark of his kindness and the echoes of his laughter, knowing that Ray's journey was indeed traveled his way.
