Richard Alan Flood, affectionately known as Rich, passed away on January 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. Born on January 14, 1960, in Detroit, Michigan, Rich was a cherished member of his family and community.
Rich had a magnetic personality that drew people in with his contagious laugh and caring nature. He had an unwavering love for his family, which extended to his wife Teresa Flood, who stood by his side through thick and thin for 25 years. Rich also leaves behind his beloved parents, Gladys Flood and the late Richard Flood.
Family meant everything to Rich, and he took great joy in being a loving father to his children. Richard Flood (Tiffany), Melinda Pearson (Paco), Kimberly Desjardins (Michael), Jody McMahon (Justin), and Robert Burke (Andrea) were all fortunate to call him their father. He played an integral role in shaping their lives and instilling in them the values of compassion and integrity.
Rich had an adventurous spirit and found solace in the great outdoors. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he would often spend hours immersed in nature's beauty. Camping trips became cherished memories for Rich, as he gathered around the campfire with loved ones under star-filled skies. Gardening was also one of his passions; he found peace tending to his vegetable garden.
In addition to his immediate family, Rich leaves behind a tight-knit network of siblings who supported each other throughout life's ups and downs. His survivors include his sisters, Carol Rorick (Jim), Patricia Flood (Blanche), Janice Sieradski, Peggy Jiggins and Lynda Flood.
His legacy extends beyond his immediate family, as Rich leaves behind 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He took great pleasure in watching them grow and always made time to impart his wisdom, love, and guidance. Rich also cherished the relationships he had with his nieces, nephews, and cousins, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Rich's passing leaves a void in the lives of those who knew him, but his memory will live on through the countless lives he touched. His contagious laughter and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
In honor of Rich's life, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions in memory of Richard to be made to AFTD, 2700 Horizon Dr. Suite 120, King of Prussia, PA 19406 or online at theaftd.org, which is a non-profit organization doing research towards the diagnosis, treatment and cure for frontotemporal dementia.
May his soul find eternal peace as he embarks on his next great adventure.
