Richard Graves Jr

Shelby Township, Michigan

Richard Graves, Jr, beloved by many, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2026 at the age of 82.

Born on November 15, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama to Melissa and Richard Graves, Sr. He spent his formative years in Autaguaville, AL, after graduating from Autauga County Training School Richard moved to Detroit where he met his forever love, Eunice.

He lived his life defined by hard work, dedication and enjoying his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife Eunice, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with cherished memories, love, and of course, family.

Richard served in the Air Force as an airplane mechanic and after an honorable discharge he secured jobs in the automotive industry, eventually he retired from General Motors, where he worked for over 20 years. His hobbies included traveling, bowling, and camping.

Richard was a proud father to two daughters, Richarne (Fuqua) and Wauketa (Thelen), "the best son-in-laws,” as he would often say, Terell and Todd. As well as an adoring grandfather to his four grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby, Coen and Kellyn, also known as KJ, and a loving guardian to his youngest brother Charles.

Family was one of his greatest sources of pride and joy. He treasured time spent with them and leaves behind a legacy of love, wisdom, and memories that will continue through the generations.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Eunice, two children, Richarne (Terell) and Wauketa (Todd), four grandchildren, Brittany, Shelby, Coen and KJ, one brother, Charles, (four siblings preceded him in death,) many nieces and nephews, extended family, and a host of other family and friends who were blessed to know and love him.

Though his presence will be deeply missed, his life will continue to be celebrated through the family he loved, the lessons he shared, and the memories he created.

“A life well lived, a heart deeply loved, and a legacy that will live on.”
