Richard Joseph Hren

May 25, 1963 — June 4, 2026

Macomb, Michigan

Richard (Rick) J. Hren was born on May 25, 1963, and passed away at home on June 4, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family after a brief battle with cancer.

Rick was a devoted man who cherished his family, work, and values above all else. He held strong beliefs in integrity, ambition, and education, which were vividly expressed through his deep passions for music and literature.

Known for his friendly nature, Rick easily connected with people wherever he went. His love for drumming led him on many adventures, whether performing with his band, Merge, or inspiring his children to discover their own love for music.

He was a beloved husband of 21 years to his wife, Becky; a proud father to Lexi and Zack; and a caring stepfather to Nickie. Rick also cherished his role as grandpa to Bailey, Cayley, Emma, and Elliot. His love for family and friends was evident in his actions and approach to everyday life.

Born to Betty and Richard Hren, Rick was a loving brother to Derrick (Sue) Hren, a devoted uncle to Cody (Jessie) and Mackenna, and a proud great-uncle to Cooper.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 26th from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Villa Penna, located at 43985 Hayes Road, Sterling Heights, MI 48313. The memorial will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner. All are welcome to attend. In honor of Rick’s memory, guests are kindly requested to dress as he would have: no jeans, hats, sandals, shorts, or t-shirts.

In lieu of flowers, an educational fund has been established to support Lexi and Zack’s college expenses. Contributions can be made payable to Rebecca Hren.

Rick’s warmth, dedication, and passion touched all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished by family and friends alike.
