It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Stankich, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend. Bob was born on October 31, 1945, in Highland Park, Michigan, and he peacefully departed from this world on June 9, 2024, in Detroit, Michigan.
Bob led a remarkable life filled with dedication and service. After graduating from High School in 1964, he embarked a career journey at Ford Motor Company that spanned over four decades from 1964 to 2006. He diligently served his country during the Vietnam War conflict as a Military Police Officer before resuming his devoted work at Ford as a skilled Millwright.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob found joy in various pastimes. He had an unwavering love for sports, particularly the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings teams, which he enjoyed watching with his family and friends. Basking in the warmth of the sun while fishing or savoring a delicious meal and margarita with his loved ones brought him immense happiness. Bob also appreciated the beauty of live music, travel adventures, and the camaraderie of watching morning game shows.
Family was at the core of Bob's life. He was preceded in death by his parents Bosko and Mildred Stankich, his wife Barbara, his sister Viola, and his son Robby. Bob is survived by his daughter Paula Stankich-Kevey (Peter), stepdaughter Nicole George (Ken), stepson Derek Zoldos (Vicky), sister Katherine Stankich, grandson Dustin Stankich (Lauren Bauer), granddaughter Amber Hader (Tim), granddaughter Addisyn George, niece Kathryn Dallaire (John), nephew David Gieraltowski, several cousins, friends, and great nieces, Taylor and Angelia.
A Memorial Service to honor and celebrate Bob's life will be held on July 24th, 2024 at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. The service will commence at 1:00 PM to reminisce on cherished memories and pay tribute to a man who touched the hearts of many.
In loving memory of Robert "Bob" Stankich - may his kindness, humor, and enduring spirit live on in our hearts forever - in lieu of flowers, donations can either be made to the Macomb County Animal Shelter or Tunnels to Towers.
