Robert Arthur “Bob” Wilson passed away on September 5, 2026, at the age of 82 after a brief illness, leaving behind a rich legacy of kindness, service, and devotion to family.
Born in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, on May 24, 1944, to John and Juliette Wilson, Bob grew up as the youngest of four children. After graduating from South Lake High School, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1971 and later earned his Associate Degree in Metals, Machining, and Technology from Macomb Community College.
Bob’s heart for service was evident in everything he did. On February 18, 1966, he married Karen Miller, embarking on a remarkable 60-year journey together. Together, they opened their hearts and home to 10 exchange students through Youth For Understanding, led Cub Scouts, coached youth soccer, and spent years in a local camping club.
A staple in the community, Bob served 15 years with the Selfridge Chesterfield Lions Club—helping provide holiday food baskets, counting Red Kettle funds, and serving meals at the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen. He also enjoyed volunteering with the Friends of the Chesterfield Police Department, where he could usually be found behind the grill with his brother-in-law, Paul, cooking hot dogs at the annual open house. When he wasn't volunteering, Bob loved traveling the globe with Karen, exploring everything from European landscapes and Mexican beaches to America’s National Parks and scenic cruises.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Karen; his daughter, Julie (Shay) Prentice; his son, Christopher (Lauren) Wilson; his grandchildren, Cole Thieman, Kylie Jade Wilson, and Kari Ella Wilson; and his beloved dog, Cooper. He also leaves behind his brother, Donald Wilson; sister-in-law, Mary Wilson; brothers-in-law, Paul (Mari-Ann) Miller and David Miller; and many extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers John and Gene, and his sister-in-law Pamela Stephan.
The family request that any donations be made out to the Selfridge Chesterfield Lions Club. Mailing address is 1420 Balmoral Dr. Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. If you have any questions about donations for the Selfridge Chesterfield Lions Club you can call Shawn at 248-752-0365.
