Ronald Goretski, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 alongside his family at McLaren Macomb Hospital, Mt. Clemens, MI with the comfort and support of McLaren Hospice. He was called home after a long battle with cancer.
Ronald was born January 6, 1943 at Saint Frances Hospital, Hamtramck, MI, the son of the late John and Helen (Rice) Goretski. Ronald graduated from Pershing High School in Detroit, Michigan. As a young man he worked as a paper boy for many years. Following his schooling and military service Ronald worked for General Motors from October 1961 until retiring in 1993. Ronald was in the service from 1964 until 1966, the time he worked for GM in 1961 carried over while he served in the United States Army in Korea. Ronald married Virginia Cheslock on November 21, 1969. Although the marriage ended in 1998, the two remained best friends.
Ronald enjoyed going to Little Joe's for coffee with his friends Bob, John, Fred, and Harry. He enjoyed watching baseball, hockey, and football, as well as going bowling and to the casino. He was known as quite the jokester and always had a big smile. He will be missed by his family, especially his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
Ronald is survived by his brother Dennis Goretski, daughter Michelle Goretski (fiancé Wm. Brown), son Darrin Goretski, and special friend Lindsay Graft. He is the loving grandfather of Amanda, Brandon, Paul, Emma, Daniel and great-grandfather of Madison, Olivia, Wesson, and the late Malaya Marie. Ronald is also survived by his former wife Virginia Goretski-Farrell, brother Dennis Goretski ,many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ronald was pre-deceased by his parents John and Helen Goretski, his brother, Gerald (Bonnie) Goretski, and sister Lorraine (Wendell) Graviette.
Cremation has taken place with Cremation Source, in Fraser, Michigan. Ronald will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Please share your memories of Ronald at his memory book above.
