Ryan Patrick Standish

Ryan Patrick Standish of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on May 21^st after bravely battling a long illness. Ryan was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan on January 21, 1977. Ryan grew up in Clinton Township, Michigan, and graduated from Chippewa Valley High School. He proudly served in the Marine Corps before attending and becoming an alumnus of Macomb Community College and Oakland University.

Ryan met his best friend, Sandra Nickell, in 2004 while both worked for the US Forest Service in Wisconsin after college. They were inseparable from then on, getting married in 2011 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Ryan lived for many years in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan which he came to care deeply about, before recently moving to Somerset, KY.

There was little that Ryan couldn’t set his mind to and excel at. He had varied hobbies –rebuilding and riding fixed-gear bikes, cooking, visiting parks, walking, antiquing, and always learning something new. Ryan could remember the titles and lyrics of countless songs. He was generous and had a wonderful sense of humor.  Ryan had an artist's soul and was a beautiful photographer. He was loving and kind and was proud to be an outstanding kitten Dad.   

Ryan was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Standish; and grandmother, Anna Eichinger. He is survived by his wife Sandra; father Daniel Standish; brother Matthew (Tricia Anderson) Standish; and his cats, Ultimate Whopper and Spunknik. He is also survived by numerous cousins and his niece and nephew.

May he rest now in peace and without pain, you will live forever in our hearts the caring and sensitive man we all love. It’s a comfort to know he has reunited with joy at the rainbow bridge with his beloved Dirty Bob, Guinevere, and Midnight.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Mount Clemens, Michigan on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1 PM.
