Samantha Marie Schmerheim

December 22, 1994 — November 12, 2020

Samantha Marie Schmerheim age 25 passed away on November 12, 2020, at her home in Clarkston, Michigan. Samantha was born December 22, 1994, in Detroit Michigan the daughter of Anna Shrum and Fredrick Schmerheim.

Samantha, affectionately called "Sam" by her family and friends, was a "bright light" with a contagious smile. As a young girl, she was intelligent, creative, quick-witted, kind, and a bit quirky. Sam loved to draw and dress fancy, cherishing her many Halloweens dressed as her favorite witch. She was always polite and meticulous with her manners. Sam never followed the traditional course of life and some could say she danced along her own path smiling and laughing the whole way.

Sam was raised in St. Clair Shores and attended Lakeshore High School where her sphere of friends included every group. Following her schooling, she explored many work careers beginning first at the local Hungry Howie's Pizzeria. She would tell people "I am a Pizza Chef", and giggle. Later she sold cars and flooring for Ultra Floors and Superb. Recently Sam found her career within the field of dental health care. She worked as a dental assistant with aspirations of continuing her education to become a fully certified dental assistant.

Away from work, Sam was an artist and a free spirit. She would reminisce about her wonderful vacation to Mexico and other trips she took with family and friends. Sam loved the sun and nature, especially being outside surrounded by animals. Her heart was devoted to her beloved Dalmatian, named "Heaven", whom she adored, and her three cats, Jebediah, Finn, and Pepper. Sam loved others and they, in turn, fell in love with her contagious smile, quick wit, and zest for life …often being called "the life of the party". Sam had many friends, and in turn was a wonderful and loyal friend. She would endear others with her humor, kindness, and authenticity.

Sam had a great love and affection for all of her family and was a dedicated, loving, and protective big sister. Additionally, her maternal side loved being a caretaker of her siblings and younger cousins, all of whom she enjoyed trekking out to the movies, zoos, beaches, and parks.
Sam is survived by her beloved parents Anna Shrum and Jeremy Weiss, her father Frederick Schmerheim. She was the dear sister of Allan Weiss, Jared Weiss, and granddaughter of Maria Herrera, Marcia Koskos, Frederick Schmerheim, and great-granddaughter of Henry Ray Shrum. Sam is further survived by many loving family members and countless friends.

In the current Covid-19 Virus conditions, Sam would never want a conventional funeral to be held... Sam's mother and family will be hosting a life celebration and drive-by remembrance for Sam Saturday, November 21, 2020, at the family home. For those concerned about the virus the family asks that you merely drive by the home located at 22609 St. Gertrude Street in St. Clair Shores, from 11am - 12 Noon to show your respects to the family. Other family members and friends are invited to the home to celebrate Sam's life from 1pm until 6pm, concluding with a firework celebration of a beautiful life.

All Covid-19 preventative protocols will be adhered to and in place during the celebration of life. Please share your memories of Sam at her memory book above.
