In Loving Memory

Sherrie Ann Antoszewski, 53, surrounded by her family, was welcomed into heaven on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

Born September 21, 1972, to Gary and Judy Eschenburg, Sherrie and her identical twin Dawn, joined big brother Gary to complete their family of five. As a young girl, Sherrie was always busy — active in track, choir, cheerleading, and many school activities throughout her childhood. She had countless adventures before graduating from Lutheran High North in 1990.

After graduating high school, her love of travel blossomed during her time as a travel agent and included trips to Jamaica, London, Mexico, Hawaii, the Cayman Islands, and beyond with friends and family.

A mutual friend invited Tony to meet up and celebrate Sherrie 21st birthday in 1993. That night, Tony & Sherrie shared their first kiss — and as they say, the rest is history.

Sherrie left being a travel agent to join Tony at Wayne State University where she quickly excelled in the Department of Immunology Microbiology, before transitioning to the role of budget analyst for the Office of Research in 1996.

Together, they purchased their first home in Warren before celebrating their wedding on August 15, 1998. While that season was filled with the excitement of a new home and wedding planning, it also marked the beginning of Sherrie’s battle with breast cancer, as she was diagnosed just 6 months before their wedding day.

From the start, Sherrie faced her diagnosis bravely and head-on. She began treatment quickly and aggressively — and never let it dim her shine, rocking a gorgeous wig at their wedding!

While undergoing both chemotherapy and radiation treatment, a miracle happened — Alexandria Veronica was born in October of 1999. She became the greatest joy and blessing of Sherrie’s life, giving her even more reason to fight, hope, and believe.

Over the years, Tony, Sherrie, and Alex lived life to the fullest — moving to a new home in Chesterfield, traveling, joining the Disney Vacation Club, celebrating birthdays, watching Alex excel in school, gymnastics and soccer, and making joyful memories with family and friends.

Alongside all the joy in their lives, Sherrie’s cancer battle continued, tragically claiming the life of her twin sister, Dawn, in 2007 to the same disease. She and Tony, along with her dedicated doctors and support teams, faced each new diagnosis, treatment, and surgery with determination and optimism.

Her most challenging battle began in 2015, after her breast cancer had metastasized to her brain, and then in 2023 it progressed into a series of osteosarcomas — a fight that required extraordinary strength and resilience. Over the next three years, she endured multiple surgeries and extensive hospital stays, along with aggressive chemotherapy and proton therapy.

But for Sherrie, being able to see her daughter graduate from college and become a Doctor of Occupational Therapy in 2024 and then walk her down the aisle to the love of her life, Jacob Emery, in September 2025 — it was worth it!

Through every diagnosis and setback, Sherrie’s faith never wavered. She trusted completely in God’s plan and always chose hope. She believed deeply that God had a purpose for her story - using her to inspire and instill faith in others. Her unwavering belief gave her strength, peace, and courage until the very end.

Sherrie was an amazing friend with a love for life, sunflowers, anything pink, her sweet dog Landon, fun, sunshine, and the grit of Dan Campbell (aka the Detroit Lions!)! She loved her trips to Florida to visit with her in-laws, spending weeks/months at a time enjoying the warm weather and water and her trips to Higgins Lake with her besties and kids. She was stylish, thoughtful, observant, a trusted confidant – and could rock the karaoke stage! Although you might have been wise to be cautious of one of her brownies (IYKYK), sharing a Tim Hortons coffee or McDonald’s Coke Zero with her was always a treat!

Sherrie is survived by her devoted husband, Tony, her loving daughter, Alex Emery, and son-in-law, Jacob; her precious dog, Landon, and grandpups, Oakley and Costa; as well as her cherished in-laws, Dennis and Mary Antoszewski, and Patricia Antoszewski, along with many beloved family members and treasured friends both near and far. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gary and Judy Eschenburg; her brother, Gary; and her twin sister, Dawn.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 17051 24 Mile Road, Macomb, MI 48042. In State from 10-11 am, with the Service beginning at 11 am and a luncheon immediately follows.

We welcome you to wear any shade of pink or sunflowers in celebration of Sherrie’s favorite color and flowers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the family and will be used to continue spreading Sherrie’s love, light, and generous spirit into the next generation — including her precious grandson, River, whom she was so eagerly awaiting. In this way, her kindness, faith, and joyful heart will continue to touch lives and reflect the beautiful legacy she leaves behind.

Sherrie will be deeply missed, but the love and memories she shared will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her. In her honor, strive to be kind to one another, offer help whenever you can, and never put off those annual screening appointments!
