Sheryl Ann Nowak

Sheryl Ann Nowak, age 70, of East Lansing, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026. She was the beloved daughter of Elizabeth Nowak and the late Robert Nowak and a cherished sister to Edward (Diane) and Steven. Sheryl was a loving aunt to Kevin (Robyn), Sarah, Shannon (Raymond), Kayla, and Allison. She was preceded in death by her father and brothers Robert and Kenneth.

Born in Detroit in 1956, Sheryl graduated from Cousino High School in 1974 then earned a degree in accounting from Michigan State University. She became a certified public accountant and worked her entire career as a budget analyst for the state government, serving with dedication and integrity. Sheryl was a strong and independent woman who doted on her canine buddies Spike and Cassie for many years.

In her retirement, Sheryl enjoyed walking with friends, yoga and water aerobics, travel — visiting at least 11 European countries and witnessing two solar eclipses — and the companionship of her best friend Mark.

Sheryl will be fondly remembered for her thoughtfulness, generosity, and caring nature that touched everyone around her. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
