William Joseph Haffner

October 14, 1940 — April 14, 2026

Chesterfield Township, Michigan

William Joseph Haffner, aged 85, passed away on April 14th 2026, leaving behind a legacy built on hard work, loyalty, and a legendary sense of camaraderie.

Born on October 14, 1940, in Fort Lee, New Jersey, Bill eventually moved to Michigan, where he grew up in the city of Detroit. He dedicated his early years to service, protecting others as a firefighter in the military. This spirit of service transitioned into a long and industrious career in construction, where he worked as a skilled operating engineer until his retirement.

Bill was a man of simple pleasures and steady hands. Whether he was aiming for a strike at the bowling alley, waiting for a bite while ice fishing, or lining up the perfect toss in a game of horseshoes, he found joy in the outdoors and friendly competition. Perhaps his favorite "office," however, was the Corona Lodge, where he spent countless hours enjoying a cold beer and sharing stories with "the guys."

He is reunited in peace with his beloved wife, Denise Haffner.

Bill’s memory will be carried on by his children: John, Scott (Kim), and Charlie (Lee). He was the proud grandfather of Savanna, Charlie, Hope, Hailey, Paige, Chantel, and Christopher, all of whom will miss his steady presence and the grit he modeled for his family.

A resident of Chesterfield Township, Michigan at the time of his passing, Bill will be remembered by his neighbors and friends as a man who worked hard, played fair, and always had room for one more round with his friends.
