Zetta Maurine Schaar

December 10, 1944 — May 30, 2026

Rochester Hills, Michigan

Zetta Maurine Schaar (née Long), 81, of Rochester Hills, Michigan, passed away on May 30, 2026. Born in Howard, Texas on December 12, 1944, Zetta lived a life defined by honesty, resilience, and a quiet but unmistakable strength that left an impression on everyone who crossed her path.

Zetta made her home in Rochester Hills since 1997, and over the years built a life there that was entirely her own. She was a woman of conviction — no-nonsense, direct, and never one to leave you wondering where she stood. Those who knew her loved her for exactly that. She worked hard throughout her life, including years of service at the post office and as a parts runner for Williams International, and she carried that same work ethic into everything she did. And no matter what was going on in life, Zetta made sure her hair appointment was kept — a small but telling signature of a woman who always showed up with her head held high.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Tammie Hurst, in 2021, and her former husband, Robert Schaar, in 2022. Their losses were deeply felt, and Zetta carried them with the same quiet toughness that defined her.

Zetta is survived by her son-in-law, Don Hurst; her granddaughter, Shannon (Hurst) Drobot, and her husband Daniel Drobot; her grandson, Matthew Hurst; her sister, Lana; and her brother, Ricky.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 7:00 PM at Central Oaks Community Church, 2005 Rochester Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48073. All who knew and loved Zetta are welcome to come and share in remembering a woman who was, above all else, unforgettable.
